How do I log my donkey's trims and care?
FreeDonkey care app: passport, hooves and daily care in one profile
Whether you keep one donkey in the paddock or ten in a sanctuary, PawsPet gives each of them a profile: passport and documents, hoof trims and lab tests in the health history, recurring activities with alerts, and the people who look after them as collaborators. It is a donkey care app for everyday use, not an official register: the passport is always issued by the competent authority.

In its profile, every day
Passport and documents always within reach
In the animal's details tab, the Documents strip shows the passport first: upload scans (PDF or photos), the number and who issued it. For insurance and certificates you set an expiry date and one or more reminders; documents that never expire keep no date.
Hoof trims in the history, with who did them
For horses, ponies and donkeys the Health tab has two dedicated record types: hoof trimming and shoeing. You log the date, who did it, cost and notes, and it all stays in the History. The next trim goes in the Activities tab as a recurring activity.
Volunteers, farrier and family as collaborators
Invite whoever looks after the donkey by name or email and choose what they can view or edit: general details, health, activities and, if needed, documents. With «Edit» on Health a volunteer logs trims and treatments. They need a PawsPet account.
Lab tests with validity dates and reminders
Record a test from the catalogue or add a custom one, with the lab, sample type, results and a table of values. If it has to be repeated, turn on Repeat periodically and pick how often: the next date shows up at once, and Set alert sends you a notification.
Adoptions and services for donkeys
Adoption listings are free and are published and browsed on pawspet.it. You book farriers, hoof trimming and stable services from the app, in the «Services» tab.

How you start with your donkey in the app
Create the donkey's profile in five steps
Pets tab, then the plus button. Photo (optional), name and date of birth; species Donkey and breed; sex, neutering and, if relevant, the food-producing flag; then location, stable number, health booklet and microchip, all optional. The app then asks if you have documents to add: now or Not now.
Upload the passport and log the first trim
In the «Anagraphic» tab, «Documents» strip » «Add passport»: attachments, number and «Issued by». Then in the «Health» tab tap «+» » «Hooves trimming» and enter the date, who did it, the cost and notes: the entry goes into «History».
Invite the carers and set up the recurrences
From the animal's profile, open the menu, then Collaborators and Add collaborator: search the person, choose their permissions and confirm. In the Activities tab create the next trim as a Trimming activity with Repeat (for example every 8 weeks) and an alert: the occurrences are generated for you.
Questions about the app for donkeys
- In the EU every equine, donkeys included, must have an identification passport issued by the competent authority: PawsPet does not issue it and does not replace the official register. In the app you upload the scan with its number and issuer; until it is there, the Recommended strip on the profile flags it as Required.
- Your farrier or vet decides, depending on the animal and the ground. In PawsPet you log every trim in the «Health» tab, with date, who did it and cost, and if you want you create the next one in the «Activities» tab with «Repeat», at the interval you were given, plus an alert.
- Yes. Any volunteer with a PawsPet account can be invited as a collaborator on one or more donkeys, with separate permissions for general data, health and activities; with Edit on Health they log trims, treatments and tests themselves and find the animals under Shared with me. There are no preset roles or automatic expiry: access lasts until you remove it.
- As a collaborator they can see and, if you allow it, update the «Health» tab; documents and passport only if you also open «Documents» to them. To show the profile to someone without the app, switch on the read-only link from «⋮» » «Sharing»: it shows the basic details and a health summary, never the documents.
- Nothing: downloading the app and using profiles, health, documents and collaborators is free, and there is no subscription. You only pay for the services you book, such as a farrier: paying in the app adds a €1 service fee (1% above €100), shown before you confirm.
