PawsPet is a free app for a shelter's dogs, on your phone and, when needed, on a computer: a record per dog with photo, kennel and microchip, vaccines with expiry and, if you want, an alert, volunteers as collaborators on single dogs, free adoption listings. No subscription. Publishing in the shelter's name takes a business profile, created with «Become a merchant» in PawsPet Business or on a computer.

What a dog shelter does with PawsPet
The dogs' records, their care and the people who look after them, in the shelter's own account.
One record per dog, from kennel to microchip
Take a photo and the app suggests species and breed; then add name, date of birth, sex, neutering, microchip and health book number. Write the kennel in the «Position» field: in the «Pets» list you search by name, breed, colour or position, as a list or grid.
Health expiry dates and documents in the right place
In «Health» you record vaccines with expiry and, if you want, an alert, plus treatments, illnesses and injuries, kept in the history. Passport, health book and certificates go in «Documents», with expiry where it applies: by default only the shelter sees them.
Volunteers with the right permissions, dog by dog
Invite anyone with a PawsPet account as a collaborator on a single dog and decide what they can view or edit: Health, Activities, basic details. The volunteer finds their dogs under «Shared with me» and works from the record; when they stop, you remove access.
One activity for several dogs, adoption from the record
A walk, a treatment or grooming is logged once for several dogs. When a dog is ready, tap «Offer for adoption» in its menu: the listing is free, people find it on the PawsPet website and through links you share. Once handover is confirmed, the record follows.

In the «Activities» tab you tap «+», pick the type and in the «Animals» row select every dog taking part: the activity shows in the calendar and on each dog's record, and whoever walks them ticks it.
Volunteers are invited record by record: each one sees only the dogs you invite them to.

How to bring a dog shelter onto PawsPet
Register the dogs in your care
Download PawsPet, open the «Pets» tab and tap «+». In five steps you add a photo (the app suggests the breed), name and date of birth, species, sex and neutering, then «Position» with the kennel and the microchip number. At the end you can upload the passport or health book, or tap «Not now».
Invite volunteers on the dogs they look after
Open the dog, tap the top menu, then «Collaborators» » «Add collaborator». Search for the volunteer by name or email, choose the permissions (View or Edit on Health and Activities) and confirm. They can log walks and treatments; they see documents only if you open them.
Publish the adoption listing
From the dog's menu choose «Offer for adoption»: title, description, health declaration and the truthfulness box, then «Publish» or «Save draft». The dog needs a 15-digit microchip and must be at least 60 days old. Requests arrive with no name or contacts: read them, chat, accept one.
Questions about a dog shelter in PawsPet
- For records, health, volunteers and adoptions, yes: PawsPet is free with no subscription. You only pay if the shelter books and pays for a service in the app (a €1 service fee, 1% above €100). It is not an official intake register and is not linked to the national registry or health authorities.
- Each volunteer has their own PawsPet account and you invite them as a collaborator on the individual dogs they look after. Permissions come in View/Edit pairs for Health, Activities, basic details and collaborators; there are no preset roles and access stays until you remove it. Everyone works from the dog's record: there is no shared shelter calendar.
- Documents only if you allow it: by default a new collaborator starts with «View» on Health only. Deleting a dog and publishing listings stay with the record's owner. A collaborator always sees at least the basic details; the rest depends on their permissions.
- Yes. In the «Activities» tab tap «+», choose the type (walk, treatment, grooming, vet visit) and select all the dogs involved in the «Pets» row; you can add a time, reminders and a repeat rule. The activity appears in the calendar and in each dog's record.
- These are three different things. To publish in the shelter's name you need a business profile, created with «Become a merchant» in PawsPet Business or on your computer. To appear as «Shelter» you submit the «Breeder verification» dossier: without it, the listing appears as «Association». An optional contribution needs a verified profile and active payments.
